Things that have happened.

Well, I have done a terrible job with trying to post this month. I blame my rotation from having evil hours. So far, I have decided that Obstetrics and Gynecology is not my calling in life. I can strike that from the list with ease. However, it has peeked my interest in Women's Health. I have always had a glimmer of an interest in that section of medicine. I really can't tell you why. Maybe because it hits close to home.

So here is some awesome news that has nothing to do with medicine. As I do every month, I wrote a Click Here For Comics article featuring the webcomic, EverBlue. Normally, I don't do this, but this time after I posted the article, I sent the link and short email to Michael Sexton (Blue-Ten) who is the creator. Well wouldn't you know it, he put the link on his site. Over night, the views more than tripled. I have never had as many views in one week on my article, ever. I have put out 16 articles and have only contacted a smattering of the creators. Sexton was the only one who actually linked my work. He did not have to do it. In fact, I wasn't expecting any type of response at all. I am still over the moon about it happening. Makes me a bit validated with what I do.

A month and a half to NaNoWriMo and I feel totally unprepared. I've got nothing this year. Going into it totally blind this year. Don't even know if I can make it to the midnight party, if there is one. I think I have an idea of what I want to write about, but I don't have a plot or anything. Just an idea for a character. I suppose I will see just how far that will carry me. And yes, if I can find the time, there will be blogs about how well (or not so well) things are going.

GMX is a month away. It is right at the end of my rotation too. I should probably go ahead and buy my ticket now. I wish I had someone to go with though. I mean, it was cool and all, but I feel like it would be more fun if I had someone to hang out with. But, I don't believe that I have any RL friends who are into that kind of thing. I won't be going in any type of costume this year, which I am fine with. However, I do want to be more interactive with what's going on. I want to make a few vids and put together a photo album. So, no more hanging around in corners and things of that nature this year.

One more thing before I wrap up, I just joined up with a DA art group called World of Warchicks. Don't know what possessed me. I had been wanting to draw several WoW centric things, but always put it off. I figured joining this group would give me incentive to draw and finally do these projects that are in my head. They take all levels of artistic ability, so that made me feel better. While I'm improving quite a bit, I still have a ways to go before I deem myself any good.  And the only way to get better is to draw more.

So I do believe that ends this blog. Hopefully I will write at least one more before the month is out. Also, thanks to Yumefilled for being the first person to post on my blog! I suppose I am not just talking to myself!

It has been an entire year!!!

So, shameless plug. But I figure if you are looking at my blog, it is all about me anyway. May marks one year of me writing Click Here For Comics over at UnSung Heroes. Honestly, I never really expected it to go for this long or for it to be as welcomed on the site as it is. Writing about webcomics had been something that I wanted to do for several months before I was introduced to the site. I was looking for a platform to stand on and they gave me one.

Honestly, I was expecting to be looked over since I didn't really have that strong of a background in print comics. Sure I knew about them, but I had just started reading some of the larger name in print comics and had a  lot of learning to do when it come to super heroes and all that. However, that didn't seem to matter. I knew webcomics, knew what I liked and what I didn't like and people seemed to be pretty receptive to that.

If I had time to write more than just one article a month, I would. Doing this had sent me searching for other things to write about, different genres to look at and consider, and giving me the ability to say "Yeah, this is a good comic, however, I'm just not the target audience.". I have a lot of fun writing these. I have yet to sit down in front of a blank screen and say "Oh good Lord, I have to do this again.". I always have a feeling of, "Which one on this list am I going to do this week!"

I think the icing on this cake was given to me a few weeks ago when someone suggested a webcomic for me to look at review. Me handing out thoughts on a topic is one thing. Someone actually wanted to hear my thoughts is definitely something different. Makes me feel like I have built somewhat of a re pore and that's pretty cool.

So now that I have made it a full year, how long do I plan on keeping this up? Honestly I don't know. I guess I just ride it out until it's over. And I have no idea when that will be. But, webcomics is always going to be something that is near and dear to my heart. And I will probably be talking about them from now until forever as long as there is someone to listen.

On that note, let me plug the lastest edition of Click Here For Comics where I review the comic, Fey Winds.

Click and enjoy!

Rediscovering awesome

I love rediscovering things that were awesome and trying to figure out why I ever put them down. For instance, I picked up "Kill Shakespeare" again last night and started reading where I left off. This comic book is so good! I just don't have the words to express how much I enjoy this story. Granted, if I were a little more well versed in the works of Shakespeare it would probably do a whole lot more for my reading experience. But I am still having a blast reading it, despite that the only things I know about Shakespeare's plays is what I learned in high school.

I am so loving how the story is unfolding. How the characters are interacting with each other, who is loyal to who, who is stabbing someone else in the back, it is just the greatest adventure. I am so glad that I picked it up. And seeing how my life is so busy that I don't get a chance to do a lot of reading, Kill Shakespeare fits right into my schedule.

Something else that I rediscovered...the old episodes of Webcomics Weekly. I went back to episode 45 (the first episode on Libsyn) and died laughing. Literally had the tears in my eyes and couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard. Sure I had it before, but it was still hilarious and I enjoyed just as much as I did when I first heard it. Plus, it is kinda weird in a nostalgic type of way to hear those guys talk about technology from three years ago. Sort of boggles the mind to see how far certain things have progressed in such a short time.

Now to complete the trifecta, I have to find an old cd or something that I could not live without that I have set aside. Hehe.

What I do online

So it dawned on me that perhaps people who are looking at my blog, do not know about the other things that I do via the interwebs. I am going to use this blog post to shamelessly plug my other online projects that are out there in obscurity.

Almost a year ago (it will actually be a full year next month...wow, time flies) I was allowed on the writing staff of a website called UnSung Heroes. (www.the-ush.com) I have no idea why they let me join there staff. But I'm there now and there is no getting rid of me. There, I write a monthly article reviewing webcomics. This was something that I wanted to do for a long time, I just didn't have the platform for it. Enter in the USH and I was given one. I really like sharing something I have an interest in with others. And it makes me really happy when I get the occasional comment of "I'm going to go and read this now. This comic looks awesome!"

So if you guys want to read my articles (and the others not written by me, of course), you can do several things. You can click the link above and look for the Click Here for Comics articles (Comic review section). You click this link for my latest review of FreakAngels or you can follow Unsung Heroes on Twitter (www.twitter.com/the_ush) for article updates. My articles come out every 2nd Tuesday of the month.

On top of that, I do an anime podcast. (Oh yes, the dork is definitely coming out now.) This is also posted on UnSung Heroes. I got the idea to do this because I'm always talking about anime with my sister (who is the co-host) anyway. So we might as well record ourselves talking. I found us to be entertaining, so we gave podcasting a shot. This is a newer venture, so there aren't as many podcasts as review articles. But you can listen to our thoughts on Black Cat by clicking on the link. The podcasts are going to be up on the last week of every month. I haven't hammered down a specific day yet. And again, you can watch the USH Twitter for updates.

So those are the only things that I do on the internet with any seriousness. Everything else is just spamming forums with my random thoughts on random topics and writing. Nothing anyone wants to see. So there you go blog lookers. More of me if you want it :D
